Much Ado About Nothing
I don’t like to talk about rich people, how rich they are, how much they earn per month, how many sports car they have and how good their lives is materially. That’s mainly because, no matter how much money Steve Job or Bill Gates has. It has nothing to do with me. I think it’s sometime rather irrelevant if not a total waste of time to count other’s property when that does not influence your lives in anyway nor add an inch to your stature. If it does, well bless you, go open a Microsoft.
I think it’s stupid also to say things like ‘Einstein didn’t need so many A(s) in his studies to become the smartest man in the world’. Well, Einstein didn’t get so many A(s) but neither did he spend so much time justifying his C(s). To add that up, Einstein figured out E=MC2, did anyone of us perform something like him?
‘Thomas Edison was a dropped out, and he was the greatest inventor!’ That comes to show that to be successful, you don’t really need to have the best education! Well, do you know that ‘Ali Bin Ahmad was a dropped out from school and he is now in jail?’ Does that ring any bell on your head?
We cannot generalize the entire society base on a unique case.
And we cannot generalize the entire society base on 2 unique cases too. No you can’t even if you can give me 2000 names of some high school dropped out that is making millions. Why, because there are a few hundred thousand high school graduates each year in Malaysia alone.
Do you know that the statistic shows that 2/3 of the millionaire in the USA are C(s) student?
If you are to tell me that, I’d tell you that 90% of population in India is illiterate, and they are so poor they can’t afford to buy bras to cover their breast.
There is no such thing as ‘one-formula-fits-all”. As much as there are these high school drops out that make it to the top of the world, there are other high school drop outs that burn in hell.
I like to see all of us (including myself) as an individual and unique case. And we are certainly not bound by statistics or the general views of the society. If we are willing to work it out to be the top, to be different or successful. We are able. It’s not about Einstein and his C(s), it’s not about how much that Timber Tycoon has by cutting trees. It’s about what we want and how we decide to make things happen.
If you are that person who always dream to ‘make a difference’, ‘be so unique’, ‘turn and shape the world’, let me encourage you, history makers does not have a person in whom he can refer to. He is first, and before him was none.
